Senate slated to act soon on all-hazard preparedness, response legislation, time to chat with your senators!

The U.S. Senate is fast tracking bipartisan legislation to reauthorize the nation’s all-hazards preparedness and response law, according to the Alliance for Biosecurity. U.S. Sens. Richard Burr (R-NC) and Bob Casey (D-PA) on May 8 sponsored S. 1379, which has been referred to the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee for consideration. We know full well that as public employees many of you face serious limits to what you can say to your elected representatives, but even the most severe restrictions cannot keep you for providing “educational information” to members of your congressional delegations, so we encourage you to explain the work you do in your communities and how important federal funding is to that effort.
